Yes, this is a food show... no, this is not your average food show. Here's why 6pm is going to rock your viewing socks come April.

Cooking in the kitchen

Apart from the usual excitement around clocking off, cranking through your music playlist, or perhaps just jumping on those dinner feels, 6pm now has one more notch to add to its belt...

Why is this worth the notch? So glad you asked!

SBS is about to release a brand-new cooking series, taking talented home cooks, experienced chefs and some of your favourite cuisines and then rolling them into one perfect ball of dough! That dough is .

Save the date: 6pm, Monday April 3.

You can expect home cooks, restaurant chefs and unbelievable flavour combos to go head-to-head  - and whilst the restaurant chefs have some serious expertise on their side, don't jump the gun, because these home cooks are ready to stir the pot and work their way through the  And Just when you think you've got it all figured out, are thrown into the mix to decide each week's fate.

So what else might your housemates, cat, dog, bird, boyfriend, girlfriend hear you exclaim between the hours of 6 and 6:30pm weeknights?

• Aw, I really want to eat that!

• Why would you put that in there and cook it like that?

• Can it be 6pm tomorrow, already?

• Why is that whole chicken not fitting in the oven...? Wait, what? (*spoiler alert*)

With so many cooks in the kitchen, there’s bound to be a serious bounty of thrills and spills on offer. With 13 weeks featuring 13 different cuisines we can guarantee it. This show has got some serious cooking cred behind it, - we suspect each episode will have you begging your friends to come over for a dinner party so you can strut your stuff.

So whether you love to cook, love to eat or just love to watch TV, block out these 30 minutes and tune in. And if that's not enough to entice you here's why you'll be coming back for seconds, thirds and fourths...

1. We've already made the reservation!

You've just got to turn up! If that isn't the easiest invitation going,  we don't know what it. Every weeknight at 6pm from April 3 - pencil that in, actually pen it in, because those dates are sticking. And if you're efficient, there’s enough time to watch the episode, make dinner and just be an all-round food gun.

2. No more scratched heads

This is for to all those times you couldn't pick what you wanted for dinner. Those times you played the ol' faithful game of "what do you feel like for dinner...?". This series fixes all of that and gives you a two-prong approach. More restaurants on your radar, thanks to each weeks' featured chefs and Maeve's Friday behind-the-scenes; as well as more recipe ideas for your weekly dine. Bonus, no more itchy scalps... so really it's a win- win!

3. Salty, sweet, spicy, saucy, sah-good! Expect it all!

This series hits it out of the park when it comes to flavour. Don't take our word for it (well, do) but also find out for yourself. Whether you want to make better friends with your mortar and pestle, get some insider tasting tips, or just have a reason to host a killer dinner party (send us an invite, please), this show is all about dishing up the goods.

4. If your inner chef comes a knockin'...

Then your 6pm is going to be rockin'. If you're a feeder and the kitchen is your happy place, then every night there'll be something new for you to come to the table with.

5. You be the judge

If cooking isn't your number one hobby (or number 35), no sweat, this show can be as much about eating as it is cooking.  This is the time to gently nudge your friends and family to tune in and then get THEIR cook on. Do your part, recreate your own chefs' line, where you obviously play the judge! #FeedMe

6. Your food aptitude will pretty much make you rich

That water cooler isn't going to entertain itself. Give your peers, your pals, your pets something to salivate over and incorporate each night's skills and tips into some forward planning for morning, afternoon tea, lunchtime, perhaps? Basically, feed your way to the top - convert that morning tea treat into a promotion! (Note: we are not accountable if your peers, pals and pets do not reward you in hi-fives, streamers and a pay rise...). We'll appreciate your talents, so tag us in your snaps via Instagram - #TheChefsLine #SBSFood!  Remember if it didn't happen on social then did it really happen?

Have we got your attention and your tastebuds? Home cooks versus restaurant chefs, cultural exploration and discovery through food reaches a whole new level with the launch of . This brand-new series starts 6pm, Monday April 3 on SBS.
