To join the Catholic clergy, many take a vow of poverty. And this summer, it seems perhaps His Holiness Pope Francis has tried to reacquaint himself with said vow.
The Vatican’s almoner, Archbishop Konrad Krajewski, told how the church had funded a little summer fun for about 10 homeless people who live near the Vatican.
In other words, the Pope’s spared a little ‘dough’ for the homeless people of Rome.
These 10 people were given trips to the beach followed by meals at a local pizzeria. They were also supplied with swimwear and towels to enjoy their fun in the sun.
“We certainly are not saving the world with some of these initiatives, we are not solving the problems of the homeless in Rome, but at least we are restoring to them a little dignity,” says the Archbishop.
This is one of many projects the Pope has funded around Rome. The church has also installed showers, barbers, and medical services near St Peter’s Square in Vatican City which has a sizable homeless population. They have also handed out meals and sleeping bags to the local homeless in past years.
In contrast to his charitable ways, His Holiness. He was particularly concerned with schools teaching young children about gender theory and gender fluidity.
But that aside, hopefully, this won't be the last of the Pope’s charitable pizza runs.
