A new report has revealed Australia's largest immigration detention centre is struggling with a drug crisis.

Figures obtained exclusively by S-B-S show there were almost two-and-a-half drug seizures per week inside Sydney's Villawood detention center last year.

Unidentified pills, marijuana and crystal substances were seized.

Justin Miller, a New Zealand national deported in April, says drugs are relatively easy to smuggle into Villawood.

Kate Dolan from the University of New South Wales' National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre says there's a high need of drug-rehabilitation services within detention centers.
