Iraq, Qatar may intervene to defuse tension between Iran, Gulf states

Iraq and Qatar may play the role of a mediator to defuse the between Tehran and teh Gulf states, according to SBS Arabic24's correspondent in Baghdad Ashraf Alazzawi.


A visit by Iraq's Prime Minster Adil Abdel Mahdi to Qatar following a meeting with the Iranian Foreign Minister sparked such speculations.

Qatar is taking part in the Gulf States Summit in Saudi Arabic, for the first time since 2017.
