Refugee advocates and anti-racism protesters have gathered in Sydney and Melbourne to demonstrate against the new Prime Minister.

Co-organiser of the Sydney protest, Hersha Kadkol from the National Union of Students Against Racism campaign, says a number of voters are concerned about the policies of the former Immigration Minister.

She says there is also frustration with politicians' disregard for the public.

Aziz Adam addressed the protest in Melbourne via Skype on Sunday.

He tells us his views about the latest development in the government's changes and speaks about the situation in the Island now.
