US rejected 70 percent of asylum applications from Manus Detainees

The Refugee Action Coalition says more than 70 per cent of refugees from the latest group on Manus Island to be assessed for resettlement in the United States have been rejected. Only nine of 32 will head there.

No Sudanese nor Somalis made the latest list, and the one Iranian refugee considered was rejected. Refugee Action Coalition spokesman Ian Rintoul says it is becoming a shocking trend.
