Bangladeshi expatriate competes in international photography festival

Three students from Canberra High School will travel to Japan to attend the 'International High School Students Photo Festival Exchange' on August 2nd, 2018. One of them is Bangladeshi expatriate Raisa Faria Hia, who is a Year 9 student. Click the above audio player to listen to SBS Bangla's interview with Raisa Faria Hia.


Nineteen selected teams from overseas and 3 selected schools in Japan will gather on August 2nd 2018 in Higashikawa - a city also known as the 'Town of Photography'. 

"We could not believe it," says Raisa Faria Hia. "It took days to believe that we are going to take part in the Festival."

Though her mother Alpha Arzu is a professional journalist, Raisa says she never had the desire to be a journalist.

"I am planning to study on Photography," says Raisa.

Raisa Hia and her team will leave Australia on August 1, to participate in the '4th International High School Students Photo Festival Exchange' in Higashikawa, Japan.
