Bangladeshi migrants in mid eighties established one of the oldest Bangla language school to pass on their language and culture to the new generation. Dr Nawshad Haque of BLCS speaks to SBS Bangla on how community respond to their own culture. Please click the link above to listen to the audio.


Bengali Language and Cultural School (BLCS) is one of the oldest Bangla school in Melbourne. Dr Nawshad is the President of the school management committee. 

Dr Naoshad says the school takes project based activity to make learning language more interesting. They also encourage students to participate on performing arts to know more about their culture.

He says, financial challenge is the major issue to run the school. They also try to keep the students motivated through various activities.
