Attorney-General Christian Porter says the Commonwealth will examine new laws governing the possession of cannabis in the A-C-T.

The Australian Capital Territory has become the first jurisdiction in the country to allow the possession, use and cultivation of small quantities of cannabis.

The new rules conflict with federal laws.

Mr Porter's told Macquarie Radio the government has not seen the laws yet, but will look at them closely.

Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton is criticising the laws.

Also in an interview with Macquarie Radio, he labelled the new laws "trendy" and "dangerous".

[[“It might be trendy for the ACT government to go down this path - and they'll say that they're enlightened and progressive, and all the rest of it - but I think it's dangerous.
