Filipino Australian social worker pays it forward

Serving the community for more than 30 years was her way of ‘paying it forward’ to the country who welcomed her and her family more than 40 years ago.


Maria Lourdes “Noonee” Doronila served as a social worker in Canberra for more than 30 years. In 2015, she was awarded the Order of Australia. Her father was a vocal critic during the Marcos regime, her father Amado Doronila, a well-respected journalist decided to leave Manila to migrate in Australia.
