'Have Fun Butt Play Safe': Pagbibigay ng higit na kaalaman sa mga migranteng populasyon tungkol sa HIV

Nananatili ang stigma tungkol sa sakit na human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) at sa mga taong mayroon nito sa Australia dala ng kakulangan sa kamalayaan ng mas malawak na populasyon. Isang grupo ng mga mananaliksik mula Queensland ang hangad na makatulong sa pagbibigay ng sapat na impormasyon lalo na sa hanay ng mga migrante.

Bagaman sinasabi na bumaba ang kabuuang bilang ng mga na-diagnosed na may HIV sa Australia sa mga nakaraang taon, ayon sa Health Equity Matters (dating Australian Federation of AIDS Organisations), tinatayang nasa 29,460 katao ang patuloy na nabubuhay na may HIV (base sa tala sa pagtatapos ng taong 2021).

"For five to seven years, there has been an increase of new HIV notifications from priority migrant populations including Sub-Saharan Africa and gay, bisexual, and men who have sex with men from Asia and South America," paglalahad ni Simeon Remata III, isa sa mga researcher mula Queensland University of Technology.

"Pinakamataas sa bilang ng pagtaas ay mula sa South East Asian kung saan kasama ang Pilipinas, tumaas ng 8.3 per cent ang HIV diagnoses mula sa grupong ito," pahayag ni Remata.

Sa kabilang ng pagtaas na ito kinikilala naman ang Australia sa mundo sa pangunguna nito sa pagbaba ng mga bagong kaso ng HIV. Ayon sa Kirby Institute, naabot ng Australia ang 57 porsyento na pagbaba sa mga bagong HIV diagnoses sa mga gay at bisexual men mula taong 2013.

Kaalaman tungkol sa sakit

Mahalaga para sa grupo ni Simeon Remata na hindi mapag-iiwanan at magkaroon ng sapat na akses sa mga serbisyo ang mga nabanggit na migranteng populasyon para maiwasan ang anumang uri ng diskriminasyon lalo na para sa mga HIV positive.

Isa ito sa mga dahilan para gawin at kumpletuhin ng grupo ni Simeon Remata ang kanilang proyekto na tinawag na “More than Deficit Approach: Creating Animated Video Resources to Enhance HIV Literacy of Key Priority Migrant Populations in Australia”.

'Have Fun Butt Play Safe'

Gumawa ang grupo ng anim na animated video resources na tinawag nilang "Have Fun Butt Play Safe" na layuning makatulong sa pagbibigay ng higit na kaalaman tungkol sa HIV lalo na para sa mga migranteng populasyon ng Australia.

"We have created animated video resources for priority migrant populations, including the Philippines and we have Filipino characters too.

"Those videos include finding the right GP, sexual health checks for international students, navigating language barrier, misconceptions about HIV in Australia, eliminating HIV stigma, and accessing Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP).

"We want to make sure that health promotions and video resources also highlight and acknowledge that migrant populations [can] navigate their ways to increase their health literacy," ani Remata na isa ring social worker sa Queensland.

Bukod sa kanilang binuo mga binuong animated videos resources sa tulong ng grupong True Relationships & Reproductive Health - isang non-profit organisation na nagtataguyod ng sexual and reproductive health sa Queensland, dumadalo rin sa iba't ibang pagtitipon pangkalusugan ang grupo ni Remata para ibahagi ang kanilang pananaliksik at proyekto.

"We're so happy we get to participate in the first-ever National Multicultural Health and Wellbeing Conference organised by the Federation of Ethnic Communities' Councils of Australia."

"We were able to share about our work with the wider multicultural community, and they were able to appreciate our project that not only provide health information but also dealt with language nuisances and all other competing priorities, needs and experiences such as financial constraints for international students assessing HIV test.
