Greek man charged with murdering boyfriend at Sydney apartment block

The 42-year-old Greek Australian has been charged with the alleged murder of his partner at a Rushcutters Bay apartment block.

Papaefthymiou was arrested near the building in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, after his 39-year-old partner was found critically injured in the basement carpark.

The man died shortly after being taken to St Vincent’s Hospital.

The NSW police announcement states that emergency services were called to an apartment block on Kings Cross Road at about 1.50pm on Wednesday, following reports of an alleged assault.
ABC reports that the couple were living is believed to have had a fistfight at the basement carpark, with neighbours becoming aware of a fight.

A third man was seen being led away from the apartment block by detectives, with a towel wrapped around his head while wearing a forensic jumpsuit.

According to the ABC, it is understood he was living with the two men and had gone to help the 39-year-old man.

Philip Papaefthymiou was taken to hospital under police guard before being transferred to the police station where murder charges were laid.
