An Australian, former police officer, will be ordained as Greek-Orthodox priest

The Greek orthodox Archdiocese of Australia announced that former police officer, John Sullivan will be ordained as a priest.


He will be the first Australian, who became Greek-Orthodox, to be ordained as priest. He is currently a deacon.

The ceremony, to be headed by Bishop of Kyaneon, Mr Elpidios, will take place on Saturday day 22ndth August. He will be appointed as priest at the church of St Nicholas at Western Australia’s, Bunbury.

The Matins Service and Hierarchical Divine Liturgy will for the first time be conducted entirely in the English Language and chanted by the English Choir of Evangelismos.
