Hari Krishna Group's founder and chairman Savji Dholakia has gifted 600 cars to his company's employees as a "Diwali Bonus". The employees received the keys to their new vehicles at an event held in Surat, in India's Gujarat state.
Of 1,700 employees, 600 were gifted a car and the rest were rewarded with fixed deposits.
It is not the first time that the company has given cars to its employees. Recently Hari Krishna Group also rewarded three employees with Mercedes Benz GLS SUVs worth INR 3 crore (AUD$600,000) for completing 25 years with the company.
"To grace this ceremony, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendrabhai Modi handed over car keys to few of the company’s employees personally in New Delhi and gave his warm blessing to over 25,000 family members through a live video conferencing," said Savjibhai Dholakia in a message posted to his Facebook page.
The company has gifted Renault KWID and Maruti Suzuki Celerio cars worth INR 4.4 lakh (AUD$9,000) and INR 5.38 lakh (AUD$11,000), respectively. The company's annual turnover is around INR 6000 crore (AUD$1.2 billion) with 5,500 employees. Around 4,000 of those employees have already received expensive gifts as a "Diwali Bonus" in past years.

"We believe that employees are the base to a strong and long-running organization," said Dholakia through his Facebook page, "We truly value and admire the hard work of our employees and wanted to express our gratitude towards their proficiency and enthusiasm."
In 2017, the company gifted 1,200 Dastun redi-Go cars to their employees and in 2016, 400 employees were rewarded with flats for their "Diwali Bonus".
