A 55-year-old Australian national was found dead at her apartment in Hyderabad on Thursday.
Margaret Linda, an Australian citizen came to India one year ago on a tourist visa and was living at a house in Akbarpura locality of Tolichowki along with her friend Albert Cooker (30), a Nigerian, according to local media reports.
“Her apartment was on the fourth floor. While Albert was a student and pursuing different courses in the city, Margaret usually stayed at home,” said Golconda Inspector Khaleel Pasha. Her visa was to expire in August 2016.
According to police, the woman and her partner went to bed in the wee hours.
On Thursday, Albert woke up around 12.30 p.m. and went into the rest room and discovered the woman’s immobile body.
He shifted her to the hall and called ambulance for medical assistance. The paramedics who rushed to the house examined the woman and declared her dead.
They also informed the local police who rushed to the house and took up investigation. The local police have registered a case of suspicious death under section 174 of CrPC and have started investigation.
She is suspected to have died of an overdose of drugs which she was consuming for Asthma and epilepsy.
“Her son, daughter and husband live in Australia and she has been traveling between the two countries frequently. She was also an Asthma and epilepsy patient. We have found tablets next to her. There were no injuries on the body,” said Ghouse Moinuddin, ACP Asif Nagar division.
