A 36-year-old Australian woman of Indian origin was allegedly molested by a private security guard on Tuesday night in New Delhi.

The guard was posted at the Malviya Nagar housing society where the victim resides.

The victim told the police that on Tuesday night when she had returned to her flat, the security guard refused to open the gate of the society.

He instead, urged her to use another entry which she declined. This led to a heated argument and it is alleged that the guard then molested her.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ishwar Singh said that the victim had filed molestation compliant against one Pintu, a security guard.

An FIR under section 354 (molestation) of the Indian Penal Code was registered at Malviya Nagar police station and the police arrested the accused, said Mr. Singh.

The accused has been sent to Tihar Jail by a local court in New Delhi.
