India extends deadline for conversion of PIO cards

The previous deadline to convert your PIO to OCI card was 31st December 2016. Now this deadline has been extended.

India has extended the deadline to convert your PIO card to OCI card.
 
The deadline has been extended for six months and the last date for applying for conversion of Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards to Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) card is June 30, 2017.

It has been decided, with the approval of the competent authority, to extend the date for submission of the application for registration as OCI card holder by the erstwhile PIO cardholders till June 30, 2017, reported.


It is for the third time an extension has been granted.
If you haven’t converted your PIO to OCI yet, here’s how you can do it.

The documents required for conversion are:

(i)  Copy of valid PIO Card

(ii)  Copy of current valid Passport
