Indian national Gurpreet Kaur found dead

Family in Punjab shocked as they learn of their young daughter's sudden death.

23-year-old Indian national Gurpreet Kaur was found dead in Manurewa, South Auckland on May 11.

She worked at a private IT firm in New Zealand, where her body was found, her brother-in-law Charanjit Singh told .  

Kaur had migrated to New Zealand two years ago on a student visa and got married to Satwinder Singh in 2014.

Singh joined her in New Zealand six months ago.

“Her husband and mother-in-law are in a state of shock and unable to talk to anyone,” Daljeet Singh from NZ Sikh Society told .

Kaur hails from Punjab and her family was in shock, reported. “She had talked to us two days ago. The family is in shock. We cannot believe that she is not with us anymore,” Charanjit told HT over phone.

The cause of her death is yet to be determined and NZ Police have referred the matter to the coroner.

NZ Police spokesperson told SBS Hindi, “Police attended a sudden death at an address in Manurewa on Thursday of a 23-year-old woman.

“There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the woman's death and the matter has now been referred to the coroner.”
