Indian-origin bus driver rushed to hospital after being stabbed

The injured bus driver was taken to Middlemore Hospital in a serious condition with injuries to his stomach and neck.

An Indian-origin bus driver has been admitted to hospital after being stabbed in Auckland, New Zealand on Wednesday evening.

The driver of Murphys Bus, bus number 361 was stabbed while on duty around 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday evening, reports.

The injured bus driver was taken to Middlemore Hospital in a serious condition with injuries to his stomach and neck.

"Some quick work by police staff at the scene helped prevent the injuries becoming more serious," a police spokeswoman said.

Though the identity of the driver is not yet known, reports the injured driver is of Indian origin. 

Two men have been arrested in relation to the stabbing in Manurewa, police said.

The 15-year old and a 20-year old were arrested the same evening and are due to appear in the Manukau Youth Court and District Court on Thursday.
