A Sydney landlord who secretly filmed his tenants showering and using the toilet for his own sexual pleasure been jailed for six months.

While sentencing 29-year-old Rubinder Singh on Thursday, magistrate George Zdenkowski described it as "an extreme and disgusting violation of their rights to privacy so you could achieve sexual gratification".

Singh had pleaded guilty in Parramatta Local Court to four charges of filming a couple in their western suburbs unit over four months beginning last December.

He installed a digital clock, fitted with a camera, above the toilet after they moved in, according to facts tendered in court.

The man and woman only discovered the camera and a memory card six months later.

Singh had been live-streaming the footage to his mobile and masturbating.

The magistrate took into account his remorse, character references, guilty pleas and low likelihood of reoffending.

Footage of a young child dancing naked while lathering themself in soap had also been found on Singh's phone.

He told police it was a common video shared among the Indian community but pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography and was sentenced to a two-year good behaviour bond for the offence.
