Nikita’s brother Tarang Chawla in a Facebook Post wrote that on Sunday night, a bullet was found at his dad’s Laundromat in Melbourne.

The post read ‘My family are victims of crime having lost  to murder in 2015. We grieve, we laugh, we cry and we remember all of the good and the bad times.’

‘Last night, a bullet was left at my dad's local business. We're obviously distraught and having received multiple death threats in the past, an incident like this is all too real and confronting.’

‘We're not sure if it's random, or in some way connected, but I am hoping that  and others will help my parents get the support they need in a time like this.’
on Monday reported that the family was shocked by Victoria Police’s response when they reported this incident to police.

Mr Chawla told Fairfax his father was told by an officer that he was unable to pick up the bullet until "next week" because he was on night shift.

"This is a bullet, not a frisbee," said Mr Chawla.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman told the matter would be followed up on Monday evening. She also said the police station had no knowledge of the report of the bullet.

Indian Australian Nikita Chawla was stabbed with a meat cleaver in the bedroom by her husband Parminder Singh in January 2015 after he found a photograph of one of her work colleagues on her mobile phone.

The judge called it an "extreme case of domestic violence" and sentenced Singh to 22 years in jail. Nikita's brother Tarang now advocates for family violence survivors and was recently nominated for Young Australian of the Year 2017 from Victoria.
