An international license holder who told police he’d “never driven in Victoria” was caught driving over the speed limit on Tuesday.

The Indian national, who does not hold any Australian license, was sighted by police on the Princes Freeway at Drouin about 5.30pm on 28 February, Victoria Police said.

Police then saw the vehicle speed up to over 190km/h in the 110km/h zone as it approached Longwarry and was intercepted by police on Sand Road shortly after.

The 21-year-old, who resides in Sydney, had four intoxicated passengers on board and they were traveling on a road trip.

Police discovered the vehicle was a rental and after contacting the company, were advised to seize the keys.

The driver told police that he had his music on and was just enjoying the drive.

The man will be charged on summons with traffic offenses.
