Victorian health authorities will issue an alert to patients today about a fake doctor who has been working in Melbourne's west - Werribee area.
The reports that it is believed the case centres on a woman pretending to be a GP working at a clinic without qualifications in the Werribee area.
The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency is to make an announcement this afternoon.
Patients will be urged to seek further diagnosis from a qualified doctor.
AHPRA executive director of strategy and policy Chris Robertson and Department of Health and Human Services acting chief health officer Dr Brett Sutton will address the media today.
This case comes after an Indian-orgin fake doctor was found working for 11-years in the New South Wales health system.
NSW police are looking for Shyam Acharya who allegedly stole a doctor’s identity.
AHPRA has already charged Shyam Acharya of North Ryde in Sydney who is said to have posed as Dr Sarang Chitale by entering Australia on a fake passport and gaining registration with the Medical Board of NSW.
