Why is it difficult to overcome Indonesian marine rubbish?

Indonesia is a producer of marine waste, since they have not been able to manage waste on land properly. The rubbish that people throw away, especially plastic, ends up being carried into the sea and disrupting the ecosystem there. In some cases, this waste can even float into other countries.


Marine expert from Brawijaya University, Malang, Dr Defri Yona, will discuss how this phenomenon occurs. He has just conducted research in various areas throughout the South of East Java and Bali, to find out the impact of marine waste on the environment. Listen to the full conversation below.
