It has been six years since the catastrophic earthquake and tsunami in north-eastern Japan followed by the nuclear disaster in Fukushima. The Japanese government has decided to lift the evacuation orders for some of the affected areas to encourage the evacuees to return to their homes. The SBS Dateline program (aired on 14 March) introduced two families from the area and discussed the decision of whether or not to return home. One of the interviewees, Hisao Sasaki, talks to Shingo Usami about his decision to return to his hometown Namie and his vision for the future. Aired on 11 March, 2017.
