Language is a strong identity for the Kurdish people which has kept the Kurds alive in history. The Kurds face a major obstacle due to the lack of a unified language and alphabet. SBS Kurdish will interview new guests about the importance of language and to gather their views in a series titled “My Kurdish Language is My Identity” every week for the next few weeks. This week our guest is linguist Hewa Salam, a visiting lecturer and developer of the Kurdish language at Bloomington University in Indiana, USA.
