Every year on 26 January, Australians from around the country are recognised with the Australia Day Honours for their distinguished service. John Wesley Owsnett has been posthumously awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the General Division for his contribution to the community and philanthropic work. Reach Out Nepal is one of the charity organisations he was involved in, which sponsors children from financially struggling families in Nepal to get an education. Mr Owsnett's wife, Joy Mary Owsnett and son Todd Owsnett spoke to SBS Nepali about the honoree's life and the service to the community through a range of roles.
