With the easy accessibility of technology, the use of social media has rapidly increased. People utilise social media not only to stay in touch with friends and family but also to receive updates and information. However, it is acknowledged that there are negative aspects to this trend. In a conversation with SBS Nepali, some members of the Nepali community stated that they primarily use social media for calling family and friends overseas and staying updated.
