The Locals is a youth group based in Kathmandu that works towards preserving 'Newa' culture through music, dance and various art forms. The organisation's general secretary Sandesh Manandhar says he was only 16 years old when the group was formed last year. Manadhar and his mother Sunita Manandhar spoke to SBS Nepali about the recent Indra Jatra performance in Kathmandu, which showcased more than 100 dancers and musicians performing the traditional 'Dhime' dance.
