When parents are involved in their children's school and education, it has positive effects on their grades, their attendance and their wellbeing in general.


But parents new to Australia might not always know where to start.

We ask the experts why and how to get involved in your children's school.

Rebecca Malek arrived in Australia from South Sudan over ten years ago.

She has four children, two in high school and two in primary school.

Over the years, she has taken up opportunities to meet teachers, volunteer on excursions and become involved in school activities.

She also enrolled her children in a homework club, and encourages other parents to do the same.
