Amber alert issued for 5-year-old girl taken from day care

The police say the girl and the man are known to each other. They believe the girl may be at a significant risk.

The Queensland Police has issued an amber alert for a 5-year-old girl and she is believed to be at a "significant risk".

The girl, described as being of Indian appearance, was seen with a man who is also described as of Indian appearance at a day-care centre on Birmingham Road in Carrara in Queensland.

The police say the man who is known to the girl, was seen taking her from the day-care facility around 3:50 pm on Monday. He was seen driving off in a brown sedan. Both have not been seen since then. 

Police are seeking urgent public assistance to help locate the girl, believing she is at a significant risk.

She is around 121 cms tall and has brown hair and brown eyes.

The man is around 180cms tall and has black hair.
