Indians might find themselves inconvenienced because suddenly, they can only use currency below Rs 100, but they certainly haven't lost their sense of humour.

The shock announcement by the Indian Prime Minister last night to immediately take Rs 500/1000 notes out of circulation may make life very difficult for most Indians in the short term, but social media is abuzz with funny and witty remarks already.

While some people are likening this move to a "surgical strike", others have taken to social media to suggest alternative uses for the now-defunct notes:
