Race Discrimination Commissioner Giridharan Sivaraman says that "just because you don't see interpersonal racism, does not mean that we don't have systemic and institutional racism".

The Australian Human Rights Commission is calling on the Federal Government to set up a National Anti-Racism Taskforce.

At the launching of the National Anti-Racism Framework this week, 63 recommendations were put forward to tackle racism in the workplace, schools, the media and health.

The Race Discrimination Commissioner has pointed at racism against First Nations people as particularly harmful, especially after the defeat of the Voice Referendum.

"The racism a First Nations person experiences is a denial of equity, dignity and respect, but it is also a denial of self-determination and sovereignty, because that is the foundation of this country".
