Climate whiplash is the term being used to describe the increasing frequency and intensity of extreme weather events that have swept the globe in 2024. Scientists say global average temperatures across the year are on track to temporarily surpass 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels, with human-caused climate change the key driver.
