Australians aiming to buy a home face grim prospects as new research reveals the daunting income required to afford a house in any capital city. Data from the Parliamentary Library, commissioned by the Greens, indicates that to purchase a home, a borrower would need to earn $164,400 annually—nearly two-thirds more than the average salary of $98,218.
