The 44th Chess Olympiad, organised by the Fédération Internationale des Échecs (FIDE) will begin in Chennai on Thursday.


Kulasegaram Sanchayan presents a feature on the Chess Olympiad with comments from the Tamil Nadu Minister for the Environment, Sports, and Youth Welfare - Siva V Meyyanathan, the first-ever Indian to take on the role of Deputy Chief Arbiter at FIDE, Gopakumar Sudhakaran, and Indian, Malaysian and Australian players - Vaishali Rameshbabu, Samant Subramaniam, and Leonid Sandler.
