After the Chennai-based Music Academy named popular singer T.M. Krishna, known as TMK, to receive the Sangita Kalanidhi award, the highest honour in the world of Carnatic music, some members of the Carnatic classical fraternity criticized the vocalist. A group of musicians and singers protested the decision. This divide is also reflected in Australia. Ms. Gayatri Bharat, a Carnatic classical singer who opposes TMK receiving the award, and Mr. Partiban, a Carnatic music enthusiast who supports TMK, share their views. Produced by RaySel.
