The World Tamil Research Conference stands as a beacon of unity among Tamil scholars worldwide, striving to concentrate and enrich research efforts pertaining to the Tamil language. Initiated in 1964 by Reverend Xavier S. Thani Nayagam, the International Association of Tamil Research (IATR) decided to convene this global gathering biennially.

However, the eleventh iteration of this esteemed conference was held in two places in the same month, and it is planned to be held in two places next year as well. Kulasegaram Sanchayan seeks clarification from the organisers regarding the rationale behind these parallel events.
