SBS THAI EXCLUSIVE: In many areas of Australia, sex work per se is not illegal. However, actions of those in the Thai sex trade have allegedly been causing distress to several others—to the point where an insider believes she must speak out, in the hope that doing so could help shed light to such issues Thai communities around Australia are facing but not openly talking about.

“Rainy” (not her real name) is not a sex worker, but a contractor who often performs her duties inside Australian brothels where many Thai prostitutes work. She reveals fascinating eyewitness stories as well as those she has heard throughout the years of spending time in the Thai sex trade circle. According to Rainy, many Thais put themselves at very high risk of legal issues not to mention the risks to their own physical and mental well-being—here in Australia, right around us.
