A 39-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly assaulting a woman at an Adelaide bubble tea shop after she appeared to confront her employer over unpaid wages.

The incident, which occurred on Friday evening, was captured on video and widely circulated on social media.

It shows the woman, who is speaking Mandarin, accusing a man who appears to be her employer of allegedly not paying her several days of work at the store in Adelaide's Chinatown.

The employer says she would not be paid because the shifts were during a trial period.
As the argument escalates a second man in a black t-shirt walks over and slaps the woman across the face. Other witnesses quickly become involved in the altercation as they attempted to separate the man from the woman.

The second man is later seen kicking the woman in the stomach.

A South Australia Police spokesperson said the victim was a 20-year-old Adelaide woman, who was transferred to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment.

"A short time ago, Eastern District police arrested the man and charged him with assault," the statement, published on Tuesday evening, read.

The man has been bailed and will appear before Adelaide Magistrates Court on 7 May.

Police investigations are continuing.
