Queensland recorded zero local COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours.

Apart from a new non-infectious historic case on Friday, Queensland has recorded one new active local case in the last nine days.

"It's another day of a great COVID result," Deputy Premier Steven Miles said.
From 30 August, 20,000 taxis, limousines and rideshare vehicles will be required to have a QR code app. Riders will be required to scan the app before they ride.

"We saw in Cairns just how risky an infected taxi driver could be. We very fortunate in Cairns not to see further transmission from that case."

"If in the future we have a COVID case in one of those vehicles, we will be able trace those who have been in contact with it."
Police said border restrictions with NSW are having an impact with 2,715 intercepted in the 24 hours until 4pm on Saturday. Of that number, 142 vehicles were turned away.

"Twelve of those (turned away) would have been admitted had they been vaccinated," Mr Miles said.

Under new rules, essential workers are required to be vaccinated with at least one dose to cross the border.

The state has 39 active COVID-19 cases. In the last 24 hours, 9,918 tests were conducted.
