Australian tourist Prue Elizabeth Harvey is facing a serious battery charge in Florida after allegedly yelling "fall bitch!" before pushing a woman cyclist to the ground during the popular Zombie Bike Ride.

Key West Police Department officer Antonio Ane said Harvey, 32, from Yamba on the NSW north coast, smelled strongly of alcohol and could not remember anything she had done in the more than six hours leading up to Sunday's alleged incident.

The Zombie Bike Ride is a popular annual event in Key West, on the southern tip of Florida, with cyclists dressing up as zombies.

Police said the alleged victim, Linda Malcolm, 68, was riding with her daughter Jill Llera.

"I spoke to Malcolm who said she was riding a bicycle with her family when Harvey ran up to her and pushed her off her bicycle, knocking her to the ground," Officer Ane wrote in the police arrest report.

"Malcolm did not see Harvey coming and did not know why she was pushed."

Police said Ms Llera saw Harvey running between bicycles and giving her family "dirty looks".

"Malcolm was riding in front of Llera, when Harvey ran past her and yelled 'Fall bitch!' at Malcolm," Officer Ane wrote.

"Harvey then pushed Malcolm off of her bicycle knocking her to the ground."

Ms Llera allegedly got off her bike, chased Harvey to a church carpark and police were called.

Harvey was in Key West to attend a wedding, according to the police report.

She was locked up in Monroe County jail after her arrest on a felony battery count, with the police listing her "weapon" as her hands, fist and feet.

In Florida battery on a person aged 65 and older is automatically classed as a serious felony charge.

Ms Malcolm suffered a scrape on her left knee and was unable to write a witness statement "because her hand was hurting as a result of the fall", police said.

The alleged battery happened at about 7.20pm.

"Harvey had no recollection of the above incident," Officer Ane wrote.

"She smelled strongly of an alcoholic beverage.

"... She was at a bar earlier and was unable to recall anything she had done after 1300 hours (1pm)".

Officer Ane said his investigation was recorded on his body camera.
