Australia-Japan defence talks planned

Australia's foreign minister and defence minister will meet their Japanese counterparts to discuss trade and security in Sydney.

Two of Japan's key political figures will meet their Australian counterparts in Sydney this week to discuss North Korea, regional security and trade.

Foreign Minster Marise Payne and Defence Minister Christopher Pyne will meet Japan's Foreign Minister Taro Kono and Defense Minister Takeshi Iwaya in Sydney on Wednesday.

"We share a commitment to uphold the international rules-based order that has brought stability and prosperity to our region and enables countries of all sizes to pursue their interests free of coercion," Senator Payne said on Monday.
