Australia to compete at Asian Games

Australian athletes from a likely five sports will compete at the Asian Games for the first time in 2022.

Australian athletes for the first time will compete at the Asian Games, rated the second-largest multi-sports event behind the Olympics.

Australians will compete at 2022 Asian Games in China, though only from five sports - soccer, basketball, volleyball, beach volleyball and fencing.

Those sports can compete as Australia's invitations are restricted to sports which qualify through Asian competitions for the 2024 Olympic Games.
