Charles and Camilla's whirlwind SA tour

South Australian Premier Jay Weatherill has urged the public to capitalise on their one chance to see Prince Charles and wife Camilla in the Barossa.

Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall are set to continue their apparent love affair with South Australian wines during a whirlwind tour of the Barossa Valley.

Arriving in Australia from New Zealand on Tuesday, the Royals head straight for Tanunda, in the heart of the famous wine producing region, for a meet and greet with local artists and community groups.

Then it's off to nearby Seppeltsfield for some wine and produce tasting.

On their last trip to SA in 2012, the couple visited the Penfolds winery in the Adelaide foothills, the home of the iconic Grange.

After Seppeltsfield the couple leave the Barossa for Adelaide where Charles will turn the first sod at an environmentally-friendly community housing development in the inner-city suburb of Bowden.

The Duchess will attend a domestic violence roundtable at Government House with the state governor's wife Mrs Lan Le and Australian of the Year Rosie Batty.

Camilla will also inspect a collection of opals from Cooper Pedy at the Government House library.

And just like that, it's all over. A matter of hours after they touched down, the royal couple will be back in the air, bound for Canberra.

Despite the fleeting nature of the trip, Premier Jay Weatherill has urged as many people as possible to make the most of SA's latest brush with royalty by heading to Tanunda to catch a glimpse of the couple.

"I'm pleased we're hosting their Royal Highnesses during the first stop of the Australian leg of their tour," Mr Weatherill said.

"It's the first time in three years the Royal couple has visited South Australia and I look forward to showing them how much our great state has advanced in the time since they were last here."
