Childcare operators will lobby the federal education minister over proposed changes to the industry. (AAP)

Childcare representatives will lobby Education Minister Simon Birmingham on Wednesday over proposed changes to the industry.

Mums and dads will have to undertake at least eight hours of work-related activity, study or volunteer a fortnight to qualify for a new taxpayer-funded subsidy.

The Australian Childcare Alliance president Gwynn Bridge fears the changes will negatively impact vulnerable families.
