Rod Culleton says he has some significant achievements under his belt as a senator for Western Australia and people will grieve for him.

The former One Nation senator is set to leave parliament this year either as a bankrupt or if the High Court decides he was ineligible to run at the July 2016 election.

Mr Culleton, who will hold a media conference in Perth on Monday, claimed in a statement he had successfully forced the High Court to change its rules, formulated terms of reference for a banking royal commission, made changes to workplace laws and improved the backpacker tax.

"I understand people's grief and I know how hard it is to reach out to politicians and get their attention and help but I want to change that," he said.

"I'm proud of what I've been able to achieve while dealing with my own court battles and clearly the injustice I'm facing now is a kneejerk reaction to those achievements by nervous individuals and corporations."

Mr Culleton was declared bankrupt by the Federal Court in December and Senate President Stephen Parry confirmed last week the WA senate seat was now vacant.

A decision by the High Court on Mr Culleton's ineligibility to run for parliament due to a larceny charge that existed at the time of the election is expected within weeks.
