Debbie the cockatoo dies after cyclone

The iconic cockatoo found battered by Cyclone Debbie in north Queensland has passed away.

The battered cockatoo who became a global star in the wake of Cyclone Debbie has passed away.

Rescued by a Townsville Bulletin photographer on Tuesday, Debbie was found lifeless in her box on Thursday morning.

Debbie, who warmed hearts across the globe, has been buried in the same forest she was found in.
