A driver has deliberately run down and killed 17 kangaroos on Brisbane's outskirts.

The carcasses were discovered this morning along a 100m stretch of road at Wacol, a town 18km from the Brisbane city centre.

RSPCA spokesman Michael Beatty said many of the roos were young.

"One of them we had to euthanase, 16 of them were dead," he told AAP on Monday.

"They've definitely been deliberately run over. You can quite clearly see the tyre tracks where they've gone off the road to hit them."

The incident occured along Grindle Road, near a prison.

Mr Beatty has appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
