New parents in Victoria have started receiving free baby bundles aimed at making the first few weeks of their bub's life less stressful.
About 35,000 first-time parents are expected to get the starter kit, worth $150, in the first year of the $22 million state government program.
Books, a nappy bag, toothbrush, teething ring, cotton wrap, safe sleeping bag and first aid kit are included in the bundles for first-time parents from Monday.
Hetvi and Viral Naik were among a few parents to get the kit early at the Joan Kirner Women's and Children's Hospital in Melbourne on Sunday.
"Bringing your bundle of joy home for the first time is life changing but we also know it can be challenging," Health Minister Jenny Mikakos said.
"We are making this precious moment that little bit easier and ensuring our youngest Victorians have everything they need to thrive."
